I dare you. I fucking dare you to say this to a married couple who cannot conceive. Sure they’re not “choosing” to not have children, so maybe you, the mighty moral center for the universe, might allow them to remain married, since their lack of children stems from biology and not from choice.

But I dare you to utter this sentence to them. To look them in the face and tell them that they are nothing but roommates. Look into their eyes and tell them that the happiness and joy, the pain and struggle, the very life that they share is somehow less of a marriage than another couple who are able to have kids.

But I’m sure you wouldn’t have a problem with that. You’ve got plenty of experience in telling gay couples that their love is somehow less than others, so it would probably be pretty easy to say the same to straight couples who can’t have children.
